Remember the 80s when it was the trend to “have your colors” done. Most people fell into the warm or cool color ranges. They brought color swatches when shopping so they could find fashion colors that brought out the best to compliment their skin coloring.

In our households, we can adapt color in so many ways and one is by season. For me, the Fall season connotes:

- crisp air

- leaves turning

- different fruits and vegetables

- bulkier fabrics

- new color shades

However, if FALL to you means bringing the season inside, look around you and see what nature has to offer. It is easier on your budget and you can still have fun with some change. Perhaps you want to change the paint color in a small room, i..e. bathroom, office or bedroom. Check out the paint choices and fabric choices you want to make a statement. What would perk up your existing furniture and give the space a new look? Or is it time to donate the furniture and have an entirely new look? So many items can bring color into a room — art pieces, candles, table settings, pillows, window coverings, etc.

If you share your space with someone, it is always good to share ideas and come up with ideas you can both (all) live with in harmony.

Do you plan to do some major cosmetic treatment to your home? If you are up for ideas on what is the latest color for households in 2018, than it is not too early this FALL season to consider what the color professionals are saying.

Black Flame named 2018 colour of the year by

PPG Paints Brand

According to PPG colour experts, this statement-making black, infused with an undertone of the deepest indigo, evokes the privacy, hope and classic modernism that many consumers crave today. Embodying the spirit of a tailored tuxedo or a little black dress, it is dressed-up, coveted, unapologetic and – most importantly – timeless.

The colour was universally selected by PPG’s more than 20 colour stylists from around the world, who specialise in industries such as consumer electronics, architectural, automotive and aerospace. These experts study consumer insights, building material trends, decor trends and more to select a colour forecast that resonates and is reflective of current consumer attitudes.

With society facing overstimulation and a need to take refuge, PPG Paints brand’s Black Flame offers a comforting retreat, and a chance to start new.  This colour is the anchor colour in the broader 2018 PPG global colour trends palettes, which encompasses four themes that connect and resonate with current consumer mindsets.

9 Surprising Facts About Colorblindness

Colorblindness is more than just a joke. For those who suffer from colorblindness can have difficulties throughout life, especially in scenarios where distinguishing colors is important to safety and employment. Whether you yourself are colorblind or you know someone who is, understanding the facts about this common condition is important.

1. Colorblindness Occurs More Frequently in Men
Both men and women can suffer from colorblindness, but the condition

affects far more men than women. One out of every 12 men suffer from

a degree of colorblindness, compared to one out of every 200 women.

2. Most Colorblind People Can See Colors
Colorblind rarely means an individual only sees black and white, a

condition known as “complete colorblindness.” Most colorblind

individuals can see some colors but may not be able to distinguish

between particular colors, like red and green.

3. Color Blindness Has a Number of Causes
Colorblindness can be genetic, but some people suffer from

colorblindness because of retina damage, eye disease or the

aging process.

4. Color Vision Tests Are important for Some Jobs

In 1875, nine people were killed in a railway accident that occurred

because a colorblind rail operator incorrectly read a colored sign.

This caused color vision tests to be implemented for railroad workers.

In World War II, some people believed color blind individuals could see

through camouflage, but today people cannot serve in the military if

they are colorblind.

5. Some Animals (but not All) Are Color Blind
Your dog, cat or rabbit is probably mostly colorblind, seeing primarily gray

shades. Some animals, including insects like bees and butterflies, can see

more colors than humans can.

6. Mark Zuckerberg is Color Blind
The iconic blue Facebook logo is blue because Mark Zuckerberg, its founder,

is red-green colorblind.

7. Colorblind Individuals Can’t Get Driver’s Licenses in Some Countries
The countries of Romania and Turkey will not issue driver’s licenses to people

who are colorblind, because officials believe they cannot read traffic signals

accurately.

8. It’s Possible to be Colorblind in Just One Eye
Unilateral dichromacy is a condition wherein an individual has one

normally-seeing eye and one colorblind eye. This condition is rare.

9. Colorblindness Can Affect Cooking Abilities
People who are red-green colorblind may not be able to tell if their meat is

thoroughly cooked, because they cannot see various shades of red.

Did any of these facts surprise you? Don’t worry. You are not alone.

Many people have little understanding or knowledge of the realities of living with colorblindness.
